Stacy Witbeck was the managing partner on this $206 million design-build project to construct a 41-mile segment of the new SMART commuter rail system. Scope included removal and reconstruction of track and track bed on an existing railroad, of which 30 miles are active freight track.
Notable features included bridge construction (10 total replacements and 16 rehabilitations), extensive drainage work (~100 culverts), eight station substructures, train control, signaling, and communications. Stacy Witbeck coordinated with the Northwestern Pacific Railroad, which still operates freight service on the line, to schedule test trains and coordinate work windows to keep the aggressive design-build schedule on track.
