This was a $104 million CM/GC project for a 4.5-mile light rail extension with a tie-in to TriMet’s active east/west mainline. In addition to installing a half-grand union, the project updated old switch machines and signaling systems to upgrade to the most modern equipment.
Work included relocating existing utilities, erecting a bridge over active Union Pacific tracks, ballasted and paved tracks, seven stations, and civil work for systems. The project was built in densely populated areas with housing, commercial and entertainment zones, a convention center, schools, and a major hospital.
