New Stormwater Project in Culver City to Improve Water Quality in Marina del Rey Watershed

Washington Blvd. Stormwater and Urban Runoff Diversion Project

We’re proud to be moving forward with a vital infrastructure project in Culver City, California aimed at improving water quality in the Marina del Rey Watershed, where approximately 40 acres of city land drain directly into Marina del Rey Harbor. The Washington Boulevard Stormwater and Urban Runoff Project is designed to intercept and treat runoff before it reaches the harbor and nearby beaches.

As part of this effort, stormwater and urban runoff will be diverted before entering the storm drain system and stored in a sealed underground tank on Glencoe Avenue. The captured water will then be treated using an advanced ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system and a cloth media filtration system.

Once treated, the water will be returned to the storm drain system, with a portion reused to irrigate seven city medians along Washington Boulevard, from Glencoe Avenue to Beethoven Street. This approach not only helps reduce pollutants reaching coastal waters but also supports local water conservation goals.

To ensure quality and efficiency, our team will self-perform the majority of the mechanical, structural, and pipeline work.
