About the Project

This was a $277 million CM/GC project to construct the first segment of the region’s new commuter rail system. The Stacy Witbeck-led joint venture constructed this 44-mile project through three counties and 14 cities, all within an active Union Pacific mainline corridor. Close coordination with Union Pacific was critical to project success, with up to 40 trains running daily at speeds up to 70 mph.

Work included earthwork, major utility relocations, large concrete box culverts, walls, trackwork, 35 at-grade crossings, two major flyover bridge structures totaling 1,950 ft. crossing Union Pacific's mainline and yard trackage, seven park and ride lots, nine station platforms, pedestrian over and under crossings, relocation of UPRR tracks, signal and train control system design and construction, and fiber optic installation and relocation.
